Key Species Seen: All three rosy finch species, Evening Grosbeak, Cassin's Finch, plus the usual lot of mountain species (chickadess, juncos, ravens, etc).
Location – General: Allenspark Location – Specific: Due to the weather, I didn't stay long. All the species were seen either at the Fawn Brook Inn or within a 5 minute walk of there. Time: 0730-0830 Photo Documentation: Decent pictures of Cassin's Finch, gross photo of Steller's Jay, and stellar photos of the Evening Grosbeak. Well, ok photos, anyway. Additional Information: Is it just me, or is it that the more I go birding, the more I end up sounding like Joe Roller? (That's a good thing Joe, you're much beloved in the community). Weather: Single digit temperature, with double digit winds. Fantastic for the rosy finches, who seemed to be having a ball. Less good for the human with the camera and the big mittens, who knocked the image stabilization switch to the off position and got bounced around by the gusts. It didn't help matters that I didn't notice that until I got home. Sigh.
