A FOS for me hermit thrush appeared at my birdbath this morning. What a treat, as I don't see them every year in my yard in Niwot, only now and then. The bushtits are very regular visitors, and by the sound of their energetic chatter, it seems clear they are nesting close by, though I have not found a nest yet. The red breasted nuthatches continue actively in the yard, and they outnumber the white breasted ones, which seem to be only one pair. I haven't seen any hummingbirds since putting out the feeder last weekend, after hearing one last week, but I have heard them several times in Boulder. Everybody seems a bit early this year.
