A Northern Waterthrush was singing loud and proud (and low) near the trail this morning at Waneka Lake, around 7:20am today. I followed it around for a little while and after some finagling got a good look at it as well.
I also got a kick out watching one of the local Swainson's Hawks hork up a cast. Although that was a common sight for me when I volunteered at a raptor rehab center, I don't think I'd ever seen a bird in the wild do that before.
