Hello, Birders.

Lots of great birds were found during the inaugural Pikes Peak Birding &
Nature Festival, held this past Friday-Sunday, May 8-10. And extraordinary
weather; at one point on Saturday, Colorado Springs was simultaneously
under five different National Weather Service warnings! I was on the
Saturday, May 9 field trip to Pueblo County, and the Sunday, May 10 field
trip to Fountain Creek Regional Park. Highlights:

Rock Canyon, below Pueblo Reservoir, Pueblo County, May 9. *red-headed
woodpecker; gray flycatcher; black-and-white warbler.*

Pueblo City Park, Pueblo County, May 9. 2 *green herons.*

Fountain Creek Regional Park, El Paso County, May 10. 12 species of
warblers, including *northern waterthrush, Tennessee warbler,
black-throated blue warbler,* and *palm warbler; broad-winged hawk* and
*peregrine
falcon; least flycatcher* and gray flycatcher; *eastern bluebird;* and
*rose-breasted
grosbeak.*

On the drive back to Boulder County Sunday afternoon, I stopped by
Sondermann Park, El Paso County, where Allan Burns and I saw a broad-winged
hawk and 2 gray flycatchers.

Oh, and I heard a northern waterthrush this sunny (what! sun? what's that?)
Monday morning, May 11, at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County.
