Cobirders,
Since many Cobirders have a connection with Rocky Mountain Bird
Observatory—as members, volunteers, supporters, and followers of RMBO’s
blog and Facebook—I’d like to announce that RMBO is migrating. On August
31, we became Bird Conservancy of the Rockies.
We will crow about our new slogan, *Connecting people, birds and land*. Our
mission, however, remains the same: We are committed to conserving birds
and their habitats through science, education and land stewardship.
We outgrew our founding name, Colorado Bird Observatory, over fifteen years
ago. Fledging from the Barr Lake State Park trailer way back in 1988, when
we were Colorado Bird Observatory, we’ve now flown to thirteen western
states and seven in Mexico.
Take a gander at our new website, BirdConservancy.org, for a bird’s-eye
view of our bright, new logo and our many programs in science, education,
stewardship, and international. Let me know what you think of our new
logo, pulled into view by our previous logo bird, the MacGillivray’s
Warbler.
Why are we migrating? Our new name more accurately and completely reflects
who we are. We continue with robust bird population monitoring, bird
banding, citizen science and education programs. But after more than 25
years of progress, we are so much more now, with cutting-edge avian
research, and collaborative work with private and public landowners
throughout the western U.S. and Mexico.
What if you forget and still call “RMBO?” We will still answer to that, and
even endorse checks made out to RMBO! Our old website, www.rmbo.org, will
wing you to www.birdconservancy.org faster than a Black Swift.
.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We remain committed to
conserving birds and their habitats, so that you and generations to come
will continue to enjoy our feathered friends.

Chairman, Board of Directors
Bird Conservancy of the Rockies
