In addition to the ducks/gulls/geese that you would expect, there was a 
harbinger - a Western Meadowlark singing lustily from a fence post.   A couple 
of red-winged blackbirds were singing, but their hearts weren't in it, although 
one female red wing was taking an interest....I also got to see a mature bald 
eagle cruise over and dive on a target in the weeds.   Failing to reappear, 
probably got some lunch.
