Hey, everybody. Art Wainwright and I birded Stearns Lake, Boulder County, late this warm, windy Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13. Highlights were 2 *northern pintails* and a *wood duck.* Despite the howling wind, the loudly declaiming *western meadowlarks* were not to be denied.
Over at the innominate pond across the way in Broomfield County was a *"blue" goose x Canada goose* hybrid. Photos here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S27503687 Earlier in the day at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County, I heard and sort of saw a fog-shrouded *greater white-fronted goose.* And yesterday, Friday, Feb. 12, at Settlers Park, Boulder County, Hannah Floyd and I watched *pygmy nuthatches* building a nest, a remarkable performance.
