Good evening all! Ran into a gentleman today at Lee Martinez who swore up and down he had just seen a male Vermillion Flycatcher. "Flycatching and everything and he flew west!" He told me this as we were standing right next to the Prothonotary Warbler pond from a few weeks ago. He was clearly not a birder so I was skeptical, of course. I walked all the way to McMurray Natural Area and back and did not see a Vermillion Flycatcher. I did, however, find a John Shenot. After I told him the story we slowly walked back to Lee Martinez. Other than expected migrants nothing out of the ordinary was seen. This is a really long-winded way of saying there is a report on Ebird with a picture of a male Scarlet Tanager that was seen there around the same time we were looking. I'm guessing this is what the gentleman had seen. Again, I did not see this bird but thought this would be helpful for non-Ebirders who may want to run to the park before the reports come out.
