Stopped by South Platte Reservoir today at around 230 this afternoon, and
found 4 Red Breasted Mergansers, 1 female, 3 males. I parked at the second
parking lot and walked up to the top and turned left, as this is the only
side with much open water. The reservoir is mostly frozen, but the water on
this side was open, and the ducks were on the far left where there is open
water, close range. Not many ducks out, should be easy to see, scope is
great, but not absolutely necessary. Life birds for me!
