Hey again, COBirders, Yup, another Northern Waterthrush was banded today at Clear Spring Ranch (#17 for the fall, and the latest one I’ve done in September). This guy just made it - nets were closed at 11:15, but two were still to be furled, so only open 6”, and that’s where it was caught! After 46o at dawn, it got hot pretty quickly, and activity died, too. 86o at closing.
For other species: Spizellas are still around, but in lower numbers - 28 Chipping Sparrows today, and 1 Clay-colored Sparrow. The first Gambell’s White-crowned Sparrow (juv) showed up to today, after two Mountain White-crowns over the weekend, and a few Lincoln’s, Vesper, and Lark Sparrows were caught coming out of the hay fields. An unexpected 50 birds banded today. Have a good week, Steve Brown Colo Spgs -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
