This morning, I heard and briefly saw the Gray Flycatcher that arrived in
my yard yesterday. (This is western Centennial, Arapahoe County.) It's
ranging a bit farther today than yesterday, and it's call seems to be
coming from neighbor's yards more often than mine. The Orange-crowned
Warbler also continued. Many (7ish) very noisy Blue Jays have been
dominating the yard for the past two days. This is fairly unusual for my
yard, but it's a welcome thing. Love those birds...

I also walked the Big Dry Creek Trail in Centennial this morning. Spotted
Towhees are always numerous there. Two pairs seem to have set up -- or are
trying to set up -- territories a bit too close to each other, as one male
kept "visiting" the other and the other's apparent mate. Nothing too
dramatic transpired, but it was interesting to watch nonetheless. A Hermit
Thrush, Pine Siskin, and Yellow-rumped Warbler were notable spring
visitors.

No sign of the Cassin's Vireo that visited my yard yesterday. It had flown
in the general direction of the Big Dry Creek yesterday, and I'd hope to
see it again. Alas.

At Streets of Southglenn (a shopping center at Arapahoe & University), I
noted an absence of four young ravens at a nest on a big box store sign. A
week or so ago, they seemed nearly ready to fledge, hopping around and
flapping their wings. Today, they were gone, though I suspect they'll
continue to linger around the shopping center for a while. Love those
birds, too. Glad something as charismatic as ravens can make that sea of
pavement home.
