Our numbers remained low today with only 26 captures, though it was nice to
interact with some birders who stopped by the station and I was able to
talk to them about the process! We caught two new species for the season: a
Least Flycatcher and a Hermit Thrush! This morning I was able to hear a
Great Horned Owl nearby the station, though we did not catch it ): Also
managed to see a Black-chinned hummingbird hovering around the nets. It was
so great getting to meet everyone today!

Chico's captures for 9/4:

Wilson's Warbler 10
Dusky Flycatcher 2
Least Flycatcher 1
MacGillivray's Warbler 3
Chipping Sparrow 1
Hermit Thrush 1
Swainson's Thrush 1
American Robin 1

Recaptures:
Wilson's Warbler 1

We are open 6 days a week at Chico Basin Ranch (closed Sunday), usually
returning from the first net run around 7am and staying open until about
11:30am, weather permitting. Tomorrow is my day off. I plan on looking out
for American Avocets and some other lifers, but I will be back and running
the station on Monday. Thanks and stay birdy
