I was out looking for critters in extreme southeastern El Paso County and was
surprised to see a Peregrine Falcon out there, swooping low over the grass like
one might expect to see with a Northern Harrier.

Other avian notables: the Loggerhead Shrikes seems to be having a good year,
with many groups of parents and fledglings in evidence.
A nest with a very young Swainson’s Hawk chick, which strikes me as rather late
in the season. I also saw a lovely dark-phase Swainson’s, though I did not
manage to photograph it from an angle to show that off.
