I was surprised to look up to see the bird soon-to-be-formerly-known-as Lewis's Woodpecker flying south over my neighborhood. I have had them on occasion in such fashion, but this one is later in the season. If they change the common name, then I vote for Merry Weather Woodpecker. (Ding! if you get that :-), but will the other remain *M. lewis*?
