It will brilliant if this actually happens. Sir, if you could speak with Dr Krishna
Kumar and this would work out then Pooja and me could also try and come down for teh
first meeting if we can schedule this on a weekend. Maybe coming weekend or the next.
I think some introductions are required here : Mr Jayakrishnan is the Director of
Xtend Technologies. he is known for the many talk he gives about system internals,
assembly, viruses etc. He known for his work with the famous shellsock application
that had challenged the old VSNL internet monopoly that once existed. Mr Jaykrishnan
has been awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) Award by Microsoft this year for
his expetise in c++ and the MFC. This is the MSDN India web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/india/msdn/ And this is the MVP page:
http://www.microsoft.com/india/mvp/default.aspx You all know Sajay ofcourse. Sajay
is our Community Star :) We could schedule some basic intors about .Net and maybe
see how we could get the user group to grow in the future in the first meeting. It is
important that people share information and build up into a cooperative technical
community rather than form islands of disjoint information. The UG would help in this.
So if we are going to have a UG meeting lets all try to coordinate the effort.
Please do let your technically inclined friends know of this also. If we could fix a
venue and date then we could plan out the topics inform a small interested crowd and
get started. Do mail in your thoughts about this. regards Roshan James Microsoft
MVP. (ps. its the first time i am using this sig anywhere :) )
---------------------------- Hi,

<x-tab> </x-tab>I have been lurking on this mailing list for some time...
trying to get an idea of what is being discussed before putting in my views.
Congratulation Sajay for obtaining the Community Star Award.... I know it is a bit
late.... but then this is my first post in this group. :-)

<x-tab> </x-tab>I was looking at the recent posts regarding possible meeting
venue for the Cochin .net group and the requirements put up by dolly... "We will need
a computer and a white board (black would suffice as well :) ). In the future may be a
projector too.". I was thinking over the requirement list and ended up with the
obvious... the best candidate for such a venue would be a "computer institute" and we
do have many institutes here.

<x-tab> </x-tab>One institute that comes to mind is Amrita Institute of
Computer Technology (AICT) Cochin. The institute has all these facilities and the
director (Dr. Krishna Kumar) is extremely interested in the latest technology and what
is more, is a very down to earth and practical person. I don't know if their institute
policies allow for such meetings to be held there... I can always ask him.

<x-tab> </x-tab>The only issue I see is that the institute is located slightly
off kaloor (around 1 km) and getting there is difficult unless you have a vehicle...
Roshan, it is actually quite close to your house.. right?

Jayan
