Shampooing with mats just tighten them up and you'll not be able to brush
these out. You need to get your baby clipped for several reasons. Sores can
develop under the mats causing more problems. It is very important to keep a
dogs skin clean and fur mat free. You can not see it but a dog naturally raises
ands lowers it's undercoat to keep their body temperature regulated. When matted
they can't do this and are colder when they go outside. So in your case I
suggest you clip and put a sweater on when outside until the coat starts to grow
back. Most puppies mat at this age as they are changing to adult coat. If you
are close to your breeder ask for some brushing lessons. Most pet owners surface
brush and don't realize it unless they have been shown the right way. Being a
groomer i have shown many clients. They are amazed at how easy it really is to
keep coat. Good luck!
