Aha, it didn't click with me that the application could be a complete normal Cocoa app and that specifying faceless in the plist would simply hide it. I've done normal Cocoa apps. I've done UNIXy server daemons (with some CF stuff). I was imagining having to combine the two in some way requiring obscure initialization sequences.
