Doxygen might help; Apple has a page on that ( http://developer.apple.com/tools/creatingdocsetswithdoxygen.html ). On the second issue — asserting that you’re on Xcode 3.x — if you’re not searching (i.e. there is nothing in the search field) the sidebar automatically goes away. Shortcut just in case: opt-cmd-F then delete.
