But will any one person access all of those tools frequently enough to need all 
of them in the toolbar? Even in complex apps I never need more toolbar items 
than will fit. If it’s something I use every day, I prefer to access it by 
command key; if it’s something I only rarely use, a menu command is more 
discoverable. Toolbars are IMHO for the intermediate case.

Remember also that a toolbar item shouldn’t generally be the only way to access 
a command. It’s best to also make all the commands available as menu items. 
That way a user can remove a toolbar item they rarely use, without losing the 
ability to access the command at all.
