Given that every character in a string is a "Unicode character", this should
work:
theString = @"";
Flippancy aside, you should probably tell us why you want to do this, because
it really sounds like you're going down the wrong path here. The list might
have better ideas as to how to even avoid the need to do this in the first
place if we knew more details of your problem.
