I have only a few days experience with WL6, but I'll try your instructions
and tell you if I could find out something new.

I've seen somewhere in WebLogic a file called xmlx.jar where both Xerces and
Xalan are present. Maybe that file is conflicting?

Me too, but I'm not sure that WL handles classpath as, say, Tomcat, where
jars from WEB-INF/lib are used before server or system jars.
