Look at Jelly in Jakarta Commons Sandbox 
http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/sandbox/jelly/.
It can use JSTL, Ant, and basically any tag language.

The author is keen on having it in Cocoon, maybe XScript could be a 
discussion starting point.
