OK.I understand. The problem can be because there is no direct support into Cocoon for the JDBC for Pervasive. Try to write a specific helper class. PostgreSQL has one.
For more info check into the sources into: xml-cocoon2/src/blocks/databases/java/org/apache/cocoon/components/language/markup/xsp There are some classes that can help you to write the correct one for Pervasive.
