I had this problem too, and it's not that peculiar. I got over it by
opening the ./bin/ant in emacs and removing what I think are carriage
return characters (they appear as '^M' in emacs). I used the key
sequence M-x replace-string C-q C-m <RET> <RET> to get rid of them,
but I think there are dos-to-unix tools in Red Hat for this purpose.
