Well, I just couldn't wait, and tried the patch now via a remote session. Since I can't load a tape, I can only invoke,

backup -t 135 /vice/db/dumplist

but typing this seems to give the proper results now -- it clones all the volumes in dumplist, and is in the middle of dumping them to /backup right now.. so assuming that there are no more snags in tape.pl, I think we should be golden.

THANKS! I really do appreciate all the help you've given me in teasing out the various bugs that have been popping up in my Coda cell.
