Position Summary

Reporting to the AVP Technology and Preservation, the Associate Director DPM 
leads Digital Project Management activities, including overseeing project 
origination, workflow, reporting, and methods for project management across 
Libraries. Projects may involve many Library divisions, other campus 
departments, external partners and vendors.  Larger projects may be assigned to 
dedicated project managers.  The incumbent will advance Libraries interests by 
aligning with strategic priorities, maintaining strong relationships with key 
partners, and apply best practices in project management.

Responsibilities

Effectively manage and coordinate the development and implementation of large, 
multi-divisional digital projects, including but not limited to developing 
project plans, identifying requirements, creating budgets and timelines, 
defining stakeholders and project management teams, overseeing projects, and 
communicating with stakeholders and partners as required.
Supervises the Digital Project Management Group, including recruitment, 
management, training and development.
Develops, updates and advances policies, practices and workflows to support 
Libraries digital projects and initiatives, including project portfolio 
management, project management tools, creation and dissemination of best 
practices, consultation and guidance.
Provides reports, analysis, dashboards and strategic support as needed for 
executive leadership, management team and project coordinators.
Working with Library directors, assist with grant preparations, analyze 
acquisition opportunities with significant digital obligations, and generate 
reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree required. 5–7 years of related experience required.


Experience with digital production procedures, tools, and technologies.


Must be comfortable with project management software and conventions.


Excellent communication skills and strong ability to motivate a team also 
required.


Preferred Qualifications


A minimum of 7 years’ experience in project management of multi-stakeholder 
digital projects


PMP certification preferred. Advanced degree desirable.


Preference for a candidate with experience working on digital scholarship or 
publishing projects.


Experience with particular methodologies for digital project management (e.g., 
Agile) and in directly supervising and mentoring junior staff is also preferred.
