Not having a u@h in TOPICWHO does not guarantee you can still hide from people - if they can see the nick of who set the topic, and a client is still online as that nick, then you can use whois to get the u@h. Your reasons for not adding a u@h only apply to users who have quit or changed nicks, even then there is whowas, so they dont really apply at all. Faking the nick also removes the whole point..
