ting @ irc ----- Start Forwarded Message ----- From: "Ronny Vårdal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: A suggestion to improve a feature In a case.. My channel has autotopic set... I have no DESCRIPTION set.. but the channel URL is set. Then we take this to "my" kind of world on IRC... The way I would like X to do this. <ting> Hello.. Anyone alive here? * ting changed the topic of #hischannel to: Welcome to my room on IRC! * X changed the topic of #hischannel to: Welcome to my room on IRC! ( http://channel.url/ ) <ting> Hehe.. Finally X does it like she should when there is an empty description here... * ting removed the topic of #hischannel * X changed the topic of #hischannel to: ( http://channel.url/ ) Get me? Whenever a topic is set, and autotopic is ON... if it then matches so that URL is set, but DESCRIPTION is not.. X should append the url to the current topic.. (of course it needs to calculate how much space it needs for the topic, and therefore shorten down on the topic itself, like this:) * ting changed the topic of #hischannel to: This incredible long topic that I just set here on my room! * X changed the topic of #hischannel to: This incredible long topic that I just... ( http://channel.url/ ) And then the user can rewrite the topic so that X doesn't need to do the "...". Also keep the "re-set topic" for foo time, and bar minutes or how this was :) Also.. it's much prettier with [ url ] then ( url ) and also to have [ url ] - topic, rather then topic - [ url ] :) Just some thoughts.. I hope you can reply to me.. and maybe tell me whom I should convince to do this and so on :D --- :: Ronny Vårdal :: 6980 Askvoll :: :: Apprentice in Information & Communication Technology :: :: ting at runbox dot no :: http://no-website.atm/ :: :: +47 415 16 416 :: ting at Internet Relay Chat :: "File not found.
