Besides.. I talked to.. was it Spike? on #coder-com, and I see some problems to my own suggestion... So I was willing to discuss some of them.. ex. You have X with autotopic, my way.. and an eggdrop doing topiclock.. War you say? sollution: X spots the topic change as any other user would... Then it searches for the url match inside the string.. if it's not there.. X will add it to the topic currently set. Then the bot will change that back you say.. Sure.. Let it do so... if ANY user, maybe other then the one that set the topic (for various mistakes like a typo and such), changes the topic that X altered within 4-5 minutes of the topic beeing set by X.. X will not mind the change taking place... But it will check for string match again every 30 or 60 minutes, to see if it has missed some topics.. including the one set by the bot... Of course it will be annoying.. But your are a complete foul if you set your eggdrop to guard the topic, and not letting X change it when X is running autotopic ;) another ex. you set the topic in a split.. X is not around.. sollution: read the other sollution.. X will check for the topic each 30 or 60 minutes... The only way that the topic will not be spotted by X and changed.. is when also other users cannot see the topic... because the server has erased it during a split... so only.. probably 30% of the servers HAS a topic set for that channel, and it need to be re-set anyway.. I hope you still like my idea...
