I found that but given that syslog is udp, I assume there is no
guarantee of delivery.  I need guaranteed logging on the central server.

This looks like a really interesting diagnostic tool. Provides a part of
the equation.

I need to ensure processes have not failed, proactive. Not find out what
happened after someone tells me it is broken, reactive.  I do not think
splunk can do that.
