I think the DTD failure is a byproduct of "based on" versus "is identical to" i.e. ColdSpring and its config file are "based on and adhere as closely as possible to the Spring XML file." There are places where it differs.

I don't know where they are, because I've never worked with Spring, but I know from reading the doco that CS is engineered around Spring with variances where need be based on the demands of CF vs Java.

Someone else will have to give specifics. :)
