Hi Carlos & Tony! (and rest of family & friends) We're back in the
States! --and what a surprise-- We were keeping an eye on hurricane
Lester that was making news because of its indecision about either going
back to the ocean or to move inland to Puerto Escondido and, maybe,
Oaxaca. However, when we took the plane back from Oaxaca the weather was
nice and warm (not too cold, not too hot) and every thing looked real
nice. It was , therefore, a humongous surprise to arrive to SATX and
find the whole area in an state of emergency. It was raining real hard
at the airport and also when we got to Oakwell Farms. Home was fine,
except that we got some dripping water through the chimney and the
carpet around it got wet, but that was about it. Probably we'll have to
replace the carpet and paint the whole living room. Watching the news
just heard that the "body count" is now over 22 and that some people are
still reported as missing. Happy not to be living in Cuero or Victoria.
At Oakwell Farms the only thing really bad was that the Salado creek ran
suddenly over the stables, killing about eighteen of the horses still in
their stalls and, I suppose, the dogs and cats (we saw some new kittens
before leaving for Mexico) as well as any other living unit that got
caught by surprise by the water; armadillos, roadrunners and
rattlesnakes included...
Well, got to go buy something to eat and see how Fort Sam Houston's
doing. Will write again in a couple of days (I must have over 2000
emails, omigosh! ;o{ )

P.S. for Tony, Dr. Mom was trying to call you a few hours ago; I believe
she left a couple of messages. Give her a call back if you can. Keep
in touch!
