Makoto Ono is developing it. We can use Calc's cells to describe SQL statements and display data. We can connect to a database by a standard-equipped data-source, however, if we can operate the database by Calc's cells we don't have to remember how to operate the data-source. Fio made this possible. When you connect a database to do your routine, you can query data by open a worksheet and run a macro. They reduced their licensing fee significantly since they had adopted OpenOffice.org. In the spring of this year, WiseKnot increased their staff members from 50 to more than 200 to expand their business. All of the new staff members use OpenOffice.org. Only staff members who need to exchange document files with other companies use Microsoft Office. The adoption of OpenOffice.org reduced the licensing fee for Microsoft by 8 million yen and WiseKnot could supply their staff members with high-performance desk top computers. WiseKnot plans to distribute OpenOffice.org to their customers as specific examples of open source software.
