I mean that dnb was a "cool" thing when Bowie jumped on the bandwagon. Just
like he had done when synth-pop like Kraftwerk were hot.
And when some genre gets hot, people start to release their
not-so-original-nor-creative tracks, ending up with lots of crap. Like most
(but not all!) of current trance.

I actually liked Bowie's interpretation of dnb on "Earthling". It was quite
original. Perhaps that is because he wasn't part of any scene, so he didn't
have to "keep it real" and make the same thing everyone else does. If
everyone "keeps it real", nothing new ever comes out, and music becomes
boring.

>n.p. Amon Tobin: Bricolage (<-- here's another good one)

It's interesting stuff, but I wouldn't pidgeonhole it as dnb. Ninja tune has
many talents like coldcut, vadim or kid coala who make their own music
instead of copying it from others. I appreciate that.
BTW, I think I heard Amon Tobin was brazilian or something like that, not
sure though.
