Surely sendmail reeled when thusly spake Lundgren Jarmo:
>
> Uuuh... Why is it that every time I hear science/technology related news
> nowadays, I feel like I was living in a bad scifi-book?
>
> I want to live in a good scifi-book! One of those with rolling sidewalks,
> flying cars, thinking seas and galaxy-wide civilizations!
flying cars are here ! rolling sidewalks, well, Heinlein
had rolling roads but if Heinlein could forecast, we'd be
fighting giant bugs right now !
a galaxy-wide civilization, well, have you read Iain Banks's
"Culture" books ? I think most of the action takes place in
the last couple of thousand years.
so you might be a citizen of FInland or Germany or the USA
or whatever and they teach you stuff in skule to make you
an informed citizen. but are you ready for galactic citizen-
ship ? are you ready for your offworld driver's license ?
I might suggest

here are two sample questions from your citizenship quiz:
How wide is the Milky Way ?
How many times has the Solar System has orbited the Galactic
Center since its formation about 4.6 billion years ago ?
