true type fonts in X. works ok in XFree 3.3.x series but MUCH BETTER in
4.0.2 :) and netscape settings like this:

"variable width font: tahoma(microsoft) size 12 [it's 0 or 12]
click that "allow scaling" button too.
"use my default font, overriding document-specified fonts"

see the pic of my config :

i just copied all the ttf-files from windows-box, and set them up:

make them a dir in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts
(let's use example dir ttf)

$ cd ttf
$ ttmkfontdir -o fonts.scale
$ mkfontdir

then edit
/etc/X11/fs/config AND /etc/X11/XF86Config (or wherever you have this
file)

to have the path to previously created ttf directory. (both config
files have already some paths set, so see from them how it's done)

restart xfs (not sure if necessary actually, but GOOD idea anyway)
$ /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs stop   // start too :)

drop down to console from X, start the X normally.
now, some say that this X restart isn't necessary, that xset fp -rehash
would be enough, but it kinda does nothing.

hint: tahoma is definately the best font to do this. trust me. i've
wasted few hours looking for a good font, changing settins, and i ended up
with tahoma. see for yourself:

(thats netscape captured from 1280x1024 screen with 16bit colors)
