A space opera about _religious_ galactic wars? Can't recall one.

In Nemesis the Warlock (the comic) there is some religious twist. That's 
the only scifi-ish thing I can think of with major religious themes.

... and of course C. S. Lewis... but I doubt there are any wars in his books...
