Thanks @kaxil. While this fixes the fact that the returned object is always
a dictionary, my issue was that the conf parameter isn't getting passed to the
target dag.
E.g., in the example_dag, conf={"message":"hello world"} - this "hello
world" is not getting passed to the target dag at all.
