(i.e. only likely for security upgrades) Just wrote my answer in the meantime reading @dimbermann commwnt - no need for the whole sources of pgbouncer. Enough to give a script that checks it out and builds the image. I will make a PR later today and.respond on the discussion thread later. I think this one was misunderstanding - I never WANTED the pgbouncer code in. It was just a convenient method to add proper build &package code.usable for our users .
