@allthingssecurity I will make the suggested code changes rather than simply documenting the caveats. Regarding the single unreadable message, I wonder if it is feasible to prematurely complete the batch and rollback only the poison message. About batch drain on stop, is there any way to give the worker more time beyond simply changing the setShutdownAwaitTermination timeout?
