Philip Thompson commented on CASSANDRA-9269:
--------------------------------------------
The default commitlog size is 8GB, so this is all working as intended. As new
writes come in, segments of the commitlog that contain flushed writes will be
recycled and reused to log new data. If you have questions about how to alter
the default behavior, email the Cassandra user mailing list, or ask on freenode
in the #cassandra channel.
Thank you for the thorough bug report.
> Huge commitlog not flushed.

> I wrote at once a lot of data in several column families of keyspaceName on a
> single node cluster. I only read from this keyspace afterward. My issue is
> that size of commitlog is huge and does not shrink:
> $ du -sh data/*
> 7.8G data/commitlog
> 7.0G data/data
> 36M data/saved_caches
> When I try to flush using nodetool, if i run "./bin/nodetool flush" no error
> occurs and no change happens in size of commit log. even when I specify
> keyspaceName no change happens.
> Also Fot further information, the following is description of my keyspace
