Carl Yeksigian commented on CASSANDRA-6477:
-------------------------------------------
1. No decision has been made on whether other refresh modes will be added, but
the focus has only been on an eventually consistent mode.
2. The build happens in the background. In the under development branch, there
is no way to monitor the progress other than looking at the table on each node
which stores the MV build progress.

> Local indexes are suitable for low-cardinality data, where spreading the
> index across the cluster is a Good Thing. However, for high-cardinality
> data, local indexes require querying most nodes in the cluster even if only a
> handful of rows is returned.
