Throwing this out there for discussion (not necessarily advocating it myself):
there has been prior discussion in the community about moving to a maven-based
build. I don't know if we have an appetite for that, but it might make some of
the dependency management easier.
Also, I don't know how that would affect the release process. [~mshuler],
thoughts?
