C. Scott Andreas commented on CASSANDRA-16984:
----------------------------------------------
I'm aware of several active users of Apache Cassandra's Hadoop integration
(e.g., CqlInputFormat). I'd like to propose as an alternative that we consider
the goals of this ticket and approaches to meet them - such as upgrading
dependency versions if transitive deps were flagged in a scan or similar.
If there is desire to remove o.a.c.hadoop from the Apache Cassandra codebase,
this package could also be extracted and published as a separate artifact. That
may be preferable for users as well to avoid taking a dep on cassandra-all.jar.
However, I'd propose we not move quickly to kill off the integration as each
time we cut major features / integrations, we place a large burden upon users
of Apache Cassandra to migrate, which is not a pain point users of most cloud
databases experience.

> The code under org.apache.cassandra.hadoop is becoming a legacy and probably
> should be deleted.
> The code does not have any example / test how to use it, it is not documented
> and it depends on Hadoop of version 1 which is hardly used nowadays.
> This ticket should track its deletion.
> Feel free to object and we might revisit this decision. If we remove it in
> 4.1, it will still be present in 4.0.x where we can still patch.
