[~norman], any advice would be appreciated when you have a few minutes. While
upgrading Netty, [~jlewandowski] noticed some defaults had been changed on the
Netty side, in particular thread local caching and chunk size in heap
allocator; therefore, after reading through the issues where those were
changed, [~jlewandowski] added system properties to bring back the values we
used before the upgrade ({{{}io.netty.allocator.useCacheForAllThreads=true{}}},
{{io.netty.allocator.maxOrder=11}} -

open a follow-up ticket to test performance with the old vs. the new defaults
before changing the defaults. Does this make sense to you? Anything else we
