Ekaterina Dimitrova commented on CASSANDRA-18832:
-------------------------------------------------

{quote}If we find a 5.0-alpha1 -> cassandra-5.0 src dtest-upgrade breakage, we
are free to dismiss it: not being bound to alpha to alpha compatibiliity; but
we should be made aware of it IMHO, given these things too often catch us by
surprise.
{quote}
Sounds reasonable to me.
{quote}I haven't tested/validated the failure, but if DSE install is calling
the `get_supported_jdk_versions` function, then yeah any DSE version >4.1 is
broken. I'd expect a report already if this was true, which I haven't heard
about…
{quote}
If I read correctly on a very quick skim, DSE is probably not affected -
[https://github.com/thelastpickle/ccm/blob/5f4edb1a9f9bf771e4aa992ce7b4346fe942ca31/ccmlib/common.py#L927-L930]

Also, I believe the DSE CI is using a fork and this repo is just for users and
Cassandra. That explains why we haven't heard of anyone even if something is
broken.

{quote}Yes and No.

Can you elaborate, please?

> With the release of 5.0-alpha1, that version can be added to the
> dtest-upgrades.
> Unfortunately ccm has a bug in it where it cannot determine the supported
> jdks for binary installs of 5+
