please, let's not include this in 5.0.0, we are long past the appropriate
release lifecycle phase to be including new features.
if we think this is appropriate to include in a 5.0.1, could we then be a hold
on this until after 5.0.0 is out …?
(personally i see no reason this needs to be in any 5.0.x)
