I found and fix one issue, I think it's an existing issue that we just never hit. I can't even figure out a way to hit it, and wasn't able to simplify schemas/data to get an easily reproducable test. However, many private schemas now test, and I think visually this code is confirmed to be wrong. See commit message in 6fe93c478d for a description of the issue.
