Review Comment:
   Ah I see now, yeah that makes sense :+1: I think I'm ok with leaving the 
test like this. 
   
   I guess we could add the `byte[]` version fallback of `compress` just in 
case anything does try to call it that we didn't find, though I _think_ all 
compression uses the 'allocate' methods on `CompressionStrategy` so its 
probably not necessary.
