### Description
This PR updates placeholder formatting in API reference docs to use curly
braces for consistency.
I also removed the HTML `<code>` element and unused css classes. When we use
the HTML `<code>` element to format endpoints, Docusaurus/React tries to
interpolate `{placeholder}` as a variable.
